< How much can I sell in 2026 before I have to pay taxes on my sales >
You pay taxes on your profits. If you have enough deductible expenses to offset those profits then you pay no tax, but you still have to document the information to Uncle on your income tax forms.
We see this a lot where people think they do NOT owe income tax on internet sales profits if they don't reach a certain amount. Some ask this question in hopes of intentionally not reporting internet sales profits to the IRS to avoid paying income tax. States may have minimum reporting requirements that Sellers need to research and comply with. For Federal income tax do yourself a favor and download the IRS Schedule C and instructions to learn about the deductions you can use to establish the correct amount of loss or profit from your selling efforts.
Also, contact a tax professional for additional guidance on how to report profits and pay the income tax due.
You must declare your eBay sales on your tax return no matter how much you sell. Whether you pay taxes depends on the expenses you itemize and your net income.
I think you are confusing the threshold for receiving a 1099K with the need to declare your income. That's not the case. If you qualify for a 1099K, you attach it to your tax return. If you don't qualify for one, you don't attach one.
In general, in order to pay no income taxes on any sales you might make on eBay . . . . . .
You would need to have NO SALES on eBay.
I do not recommend that.
I just took a look at some of your listings. There is a chance you actually might be a competitor of my selling ID for some types of items. But I would still recommend that you continue trying to sell on eBay. Competition is good.
