HOW DOES THE SEARCH FUNCTION WORK?
I've been selling on eBay since 2007. I am not a large volume seller but recently noticed that some of my items are not getting viewed. I tried to search for them under a different name than the seller and the items didn't come up in the search. I then changed the listing of the items (title) to be unique three or two words and the items didn't show up in the search using those exact words.
My question is: How does the eBay search work? What exactly is the search looking at or for?

What item number are you trying to find, and how are you searching?
Common reasons for not finding a specific item:
Item listed too recently and not indexed yet
Item has already sold or ended
Seller is using "time away" to hide listings
Listed in the wrong category for the search terms used
Search keywords not in the item title or item-specifics
No shipping method specified for the searcher's location
"Price plus shipping: lowest first" sort order filters out some results
Search keyword is being autocorrected to a different term that provides more results
