How does shipping work?
I sold some books to one person and listed it as +shipping so the buyer would pay the freight to get them. The amount they paid on the winning bid was $3.72 but the actual freight purchased from eBay was $16.00 so I'm losing on the deal. How does eBay figure a ridiculous low amount of $3.72 to ship 11 books across the nation? Did I set up the listing incorrectly?

Mentor2 years agoShipping is based on the weight and dimensions that you enter, and the service you select.
$3.92 is for media mail but seems low - what weight did you enter? Since you sold all of the books as a set, you needed to enter the weight for all of them.
Did you send by media mail? If you selected a different service, it would cost more than media mail.

Mentor2 years agoThe buyer has already paid and there is really nothing you can do but ship the books and cover the difference yourself. In the future, set up your listings with calculated shipping and key in the dimensions and weight. Sounds like these books weigh between 15-20 pounds.

·2 years agoYes you set it up incorrectly. It looks like you used the default of 1 lb instead of the true weight of all 11 books.
