How do you report obvious selling violations?
I tried reporting a seller for passing off an ordinary $2 bill as worthy of $29,500. They said they couldn't find any violation (though there were multiple errors in the listing) and asked for more information! This was in a message marked "Do not reply to this message", giving no alternate way to respond to their case # 2-101734537058. Every possible avenue found boiled down to either buying or selling (which I am neither) and endlessly suggesting articles to read, none of which came close to answering my questions. The item # was 305922753196, the seller [Removed by mod]. Besides the ridiculous price, the bill was claimed to be a star note, which it was not; claimed to be uncirculated, which anyone could see from the photo was incorrect; claimed to be a San Francisco note, but from New York; and claimed to be certified by PCGS Banknote Grading, which it was not. I asked that the item be removed immediately, and the seller removed also. Just how much "more information" do you need, eBay??!!

eBay does not have experts in every category combing item descriptions for contradictions or misrepresentations to remove listings like that. Nor will eBay necessarily take action based on an uncorroborated report of a listing violation, no matter how much expertise backs it.
Potential buyers looking to spend $30,000 on a $2 bill will have to do their own due diligence and decide whether to buy from a 0% rated new seller who has never sold anything on eBay before, and whether to get such an item authenticated if they do choose to buy it.
If a buyer actually makes a purchase and then files a "not as described" return because the bill is misrepresented in any way, eBay will force the seller to refund the buyer, of course.
There is no real alternative to knowing what you buy and buying what you know.
