How do you calculate shipping for an interested International Buyer?
I've tried researching this here and I haven't found a solution that works for me. Apparently you can log in under a different account and then "change country" under shipping and handling and get a quote, but when I try no other countries are listed, just a "select" pulldown with no options.
I also tried entering the buyer's international zip code and that didn't work either.
Am I doing this wrong? What's the easiest way to do this?

Mentor2 years agoYou should not need to calculate it for him - he should see it on your shipping tab himself, as long as he is in a country you ship to.
To see the cost to another country that you ship to, you can view the shipping tab on your item - you do not need to sign out or sign in as someone else - and change your country. When you click on the country field you will get a menu to choose a different country.

OP2 years agoIt turns out my listing was disqualified for international shipping because of the category it was listed in, which at the time was under "toys and games," I believe. What's strange is eBay didn't notify me it was disqualified, it just listed like everything was fine but in the shipping section it said "ships to the united states," and the country pull-down menu was disabled.
I called eBay and I was told that electronics, collectibles, and toys can't be shipped internationally (although I've already done so for previous listings).
Hilariously, the solution was to list the toy rocket under "Historic memorabilia - NASA program." Then the international shipping option became available. This makes no sense to me since if there was something inappropriate about the item in the first place, changing the category wouldn't change that, but sure eBay, whatever you want.
Different category, problem solved!

Mentor2 years agoSome countries are protective about certain industries. I think Italy is one that has many restrictions on toys.
Changing the category will solve the issue for now, but if usually viewed as a toy, the international shipping center can decide that it would violate the import regulations of the destination country and the sale cancelled (assuming that country has those restrictions on toys - I don’t think they all do).

Mentor2 years agoNo, most items are pretty clear cut. Each country has their own restrictions, and there are export experts that know the regulations in great detail.

Mentor2 years agoI know the UK has some new requirements, but have not looked at the details. I am retired, and I am no longer shipping outside the US, to keep things simple 🙂
