I am the opposite. I have included a Packing Slip and Business Card in every shipment I have made in the past 10+ years.
I have found that including the "if you have an issue" blurb and contact info gives the buyer a chance to reach out with any questions or issues (not that I have many issues). I have also gotten quite a few lovely emails from buyers with stories about why they purchased the thing that they purchased. And, I maintain a "buyer wish list", things that buyers have requested that I keep an eye out for when sourcing.
And another reason that I add that stuff is because a lot of the time that a buyer is purchasing a piece or 12 of china/crystal from me, they are also purchasing other pieces from other sellers. The packing slip lets them know which seller this shipment is from.
That makes a lot of sense. I got started selling to liquidate a family estate so it was more about getting rid of stuff. I did however keep monthly records of sold item sales totals. That I've done for all 9 years of Selling. I "should" have kept records of my Buyers once I started reselling but at the time it was just part-time developing a future cash stream.
I have customers messaging me their stories, some have sent letters in the mail.
If the eBay packing slip printing flow does not provide a message field then you can either hand write it or put the packing slip back in your printer and use a Word doc to type something up and print it providing it prints in an area of the page that is blank.

Orders>Awaiting Shipment
Select "Print Packing Slip and More" from the dropdown
On the left, Under "Packing Slip", click on the "Customize" link
Scroll down, under "Note for the buyer", Select "A message for the buyer"
When you are done adding your message, select "Done" at the top

Nice post, in 9 years and over 9,000 shipments on 3 accounts here I have never once printed a packing slip ... fortunately, nobody has complained.
