How do I report a seller who has a fraudulent eBay Classified Ad?
I was recently duped by a seller who has a classified ad listing on eBay. We communicated over eBay messaging and after his answering a couple questions, I decided to proceed and he sent me a PayPal invoice. I paid the invoice using my MasterCard and then he went radio silent.
I noticed this morning that the classified ad was still up and so I logged in with a different eBay account and asked if the display was still available. He promptly responded that it was.
I went back to my primary eBay account and messaged him asking for a refund, which he did not respond to. I'm working with my bank to dispute the charge, but I have to wait until it drops off (best case) or clears.
When I go into eBay support, there's not a way to report this seller because it didn't go through eBay's payment process. Besides posting this here, how do I notify eBay (and the community)?

OP8 months agoUnfortunately this doesn’t really help — doesn’t eBay want to know there are people scamming buyers via classified ads?

Remember, since Classified Ads are posted on eBay, but the transaction takes place off eBay, you don’t have access to services such as feedback, and you can’t cancel the order if a buyer doesn’t pay.
You will have to contact your payment processor for a chargeback.
