How do I reopen a return request? Seller has not lived p to promises.
I purchased an item from a seller for $471.00 in April 2025. The item was defective to the point of being unusable. I opened a return claim with eBay (the seller does not accept returns). The seller responded that he would make a refund. I closed the claim, and the seller countered and asked if he could make me a new item of even better quality than the one I bought. i said yes, and now it is August and still no new item. He wrote that his wife had left him, blah blah blah so he has been behind in orders, etc. At this point I want my money back but the eBay system will not recognize the auction number when I try to open a new return request. How do I contact eBay? I can't get past their automated assistant. Thanks!

Mentor11 months agoOnce you close the return it is not possible to reopen it.
The only option you have now is to contact your payment source and try to dispute the payment.
This usually means filing a credit card or Paypal dispute. eBay can't help you because by closing the return, you indicated that you no longer needed help.
