You cannot look up "potential" buyers, only actual buyers or users that have contacted you directly.

So how do I look up a buyer from a while ago where I don't have the purchase records?
If you exchanged feedback, check your feedback left or received. If you find the feedback comment, you should be able to follow a link to the buyer's feedback or profile page. From there you can use the "contact" link. If prompted for an item number, choose "not about an item" rather than using an expired item number.
