How do I get to someone at ebay with authority to stop them from stealing my funds
On Sept 18 I shipped, using an ebay generated label, a bike weighing 34 pounds.
On Sept 24, Fedex said the label was unreadable and generated a new label, claiming the bike weighed 394 pounds.
On Oct 2, ebay emailed me that they would be taking an extra $1722.12 from my account for the additional fedex charge.
I depleted my bank acct so ebay could not withdraw that money from my account.
I've placed four calls to ebay and three to fedex. Fedex says it's ebay's problem to fix. ebay says it's fedex's problem to fix.
ebay created a "service report" on the matter to resolve the issue with fedex.
That was on Oct 3.
Today Oct 7 ebay informed me that they are taking measures to recover their !722.12. They are also withholding pmt to me for just under $500 for another item I sold on ebay.
when i talk to people at ebay, they just tell me there is nothng they can do until the SR has gone through proper channels, and they can't tell me when this will be.
Who do I talk to at ebay that can stop them from stealing my funds for a mistake that fedex made.
There is no bicycle ever made that weights 394 pounds, and fed ex weighed it when it left my hands and was put into their and they said it weighed 34 pounds.
any help would be appreciated.

Mentor10 months agoAlso, if FedEx finds that you didn't measure correctly, they can access fees. UPS and USPS do the same.

OP10 months agoNot helpful. My bicycle weighed 34 pounds when I shipped it. Fedex weighed it. I did not weigh it. Fedex weighed it. Then six days later, Fedex says my bike mysteriously gained 360 pounds. It would take a forklift to pick up a 360 pound bike if one existed, but of course there is no such thing. Today I got another update from Ebay dated 9/27 (3 days after the 394 pound item). This new update says in one place that my bike weighs 43.1 pounds, and in another place that it weighs 126 pounds.
So now, Fedex has provided fuor different weights for the same shipment, and ebay is still demanding that I pay them 1772.12 for the extra weight which does not exist.
Is there not anyone in ebay that can help with this problem?

What are the measurements you used to ship the bike?
Can you find the details of your original shipping label? Do you have a receipt from FedEx when you actually shipped the bike?
FedEx charges extra for oversize packages.
They call it: Dimensional weight pricing system
Did you ship by FedEx ground?

Policy: FedEx may refuse parcel shipping or add a $1,325 per-package surcharge when shipments exceed any of these limits:
108″ in length
165″ in combined length and girth
150 lbs in actual weight
What was the weight and the size of the package you used for the FedEx label you originally used?
It sounds like you have contacted eBay and talked to them about this issue. It sounds like you just didn't get the answer you needed. How did you originally reach out to eBay? Have you tried that again?

Mentor10 months agoActual weight and dimensional weight are two different things.
The bike did not weigh over 300 pounds, but companies like FedEx use something called Dimensional weight.
Actual weight is what you see when you weigh the item on a scale.

OP10 months agoYou didn't read my note. The additional charge is because Fedex says that my bicycle miraculously, magically gained 360 pounds from the time it left Pennsylvania to the time it arrived in California.

OP10 months agoI didn't measure at all. Fedex packaged and measured the shipment.

Mentor10 months agoThis sounds like a nightmare: But here is some additional information about shipping with FedEx that might explain why you were charged that much. Are you certain that your weight, and sizes were correct when you created the shipping label? If you are off by even a few inches, it may put your package in the oversize category and that is where the oversize shipping surcharges come from.
FedEx rates are based on the package’s actual weight or the dimensional weight, whichever is greater.
A FedEx shipment will incur an Additional Handling Surcharge (AHS) between $28 and $55 if it doesn’t conform to certain size/weight limits or packaging guidelines. If multiple AHS are triggered, FedEx will only apply the highest.
Oversize Charge applies to FedEx shipments exceeding 96″ in length or 130″ in combined length and girth.
FedEx Ground shipments must not exceed 108″ in length, 165″ in combined length and girth, or 150 lbs in actual weight. If a shipment breaches these thresholds, FedEx will refuse it, return it, or ship it with an additional charge of $1,325 per package.
During periods of high shipping demand, FedEx adds demand surcharges to the base rates. These fees include size- and weight-related charges such as Demand Additional Handling, Demand Oversize Charge, and Demand Ground Unauthorized Charge.
