How do I get reimbursed for an four an item that never reached its destination

File the claim with the post office the buyer what's the money back. It shows in the tracking that it never reached its destination. It said that it was on its way and should show up late but that was last month and there's been no further updates I'm just trying to figure out what I should do for reimbursement and if I should send this person a refund because I'm not getting any information from the post office. I'm pretty sure the guys not scamming me or girl whoever may be but I kinda wanna make sure that I get reimbursed from the post office for losing the package as well. can anybody tell me what to do. I figure I need to send this guy a refund regardless but I would like to know what the next step I should take to make sure that I get paid for the item that is lost
