How do I get a tax refund for a bullion item?
I just purchased a set of sterling silver bullion bars and the seller listed the item in the collectible - art category instead of the collectible - bullion category. So, I had to pay $400 in sale tax. I live in California, and California has a tax exemption for bullion purchases at $2000 or higher for each transaction. How do I go about getting a refund for the sale tax?

You would need to contact the CA dept of revenue and see if they have a way to make a claim for a refund. eBay will not refund the tax for the seller putting the item in the wrong category.

OP3 months agoFor real? I was Googling it earlier and a few people mentioned a tab that I could hit to get a hold of Ebay for these incidents. But, when I started looking for a tab with that option, I could not find it. So, I figured maybe I didn't know what I was doing..... I read a few people had to wait between 2 weeks and 2 months go get their refund. So, I thought I might give it a try.
I did contact the seller before I put in a bid and, subsequently, won the item. At first, I asked the seller to relist the item in the bullion category since the item the seller was selling was a bullion item. The seller did not respond. The item expired without a bid. Then, the seller relisted the item withOUT changing it to the correct category. After asking the seller the second time, I gave up because the seller did not respond to my message. So, yeah, I bid and won.
