The buyer has to pay through eBay. He cannot simply exchange messages with you, telling you he will buy the item.
Assuming your listing was a "Buy-It-Now", as opposed to an auction, the buyer has to click the Buy-It-Now button, in eBay. Then he provides his delivery address and payment information, to eBay.
eBay must confirm that the buyer's payment info is valid. The buyer can't do something sneaky like type in a series of 16 random numbers, with a random month and year "expiration date", and an equally random "three-digit code", and hope nobody will know it's not truly his own credit card, or anybody's credit card. eBay's computers will verify all the payment info the buyer provides.
Only then will eBay provide you with the buyer's shipping address.
When eBay gives you the shipping address, they also headline it with the words PAID -- SHIP NOW.
