How do I file an appeal for a payment dispute denied Seller Protection? No appeal button visible
Summary: phongpham337 is seeking advice on how to appeal a Payment Dispute Seller Protection denial. They were unable to find a way to submit the appeal online despite eBay's policy allowing appeals within 30 days. The issue arose from a transaction where $1,600 was deducted after the buyer claimed the item didn't match the listing, and phongpham337 missed the response window due to unopened emails. They have attempted to find a solution through various online channels without success.
Hi, hoping a mentor can help. I need to appeal a Payment Dispute Seller Protection denial and can't find a self-service way to actually submit it. a $1,600 compressor sale. The buyer's bank ruled in their favor and eBay determined the transaction didn't qualify for Seller Protection - $1,600 plus a $20 fee were deducted from my funds (the $20 fee was refunded as a courtesy, the $1,600 was not). The reason given was the item didn't match the listing. I never responded within the 5-day window because I never opened eBay's three notification emails about it - I did respond same-day to an earlier return request from the same buyer, where they wrote in writing that they installed the compressor and only then found it faulty, which I believe supports my case since a used/installed item is no longer in original condition. eBay's own policy says I can appeal within 30 days of the outcome (mine was communicated Aug 17, so deadline is Sept 16). The problem is I can't find any actual appeal button or form anywhere - not on the dispute detail page, not through Contact Us, and the automated chat assistant keeps looping or misunderstanding what I'm asking. Has anyone successfully filed an appeal like this? What's the actual path to submit one?
