How do I add insurance to an item shipped via USPS Select Ground?

I recently used USPS Select Ground via eBay for the first time, and I thought insurance was included. I marked all 6 surfaces of the box with red "Fragile" labels, but the ceramic plate arrived broken.

I do not recall seeing an option for insurance when buying the shipping label. Did I miss it? Will it be there when I ship my next item? I can't find any eBay video/slide-show to walk me through it.
