How can you challenge UPS/FedEx adjustments?
Summary: skmistry expressed frustration over a $52 shipping fee adjustment from UPS and sought advice on challenging it. lady_madonna suggested the charge might be due to dimensional pricing, while skmistry clarified that the item was a golf shaft with specific dimensions. comics-scifi-collectibles advised that a non-standard package surcharge could also be a factor and recommended disputing charges through eBay customer service, possibly via social media. They also mentioned using Pirateship for handling insurance claims and surcharge disputes and suggested contacting eBay customer service directly through provided methods.
I just received a $52 shipping fee adjustment from UPS for one of my auction shipments. This is completely unreasonable, because there is no way I was off on dimensions or weight to be worth $52 for UPS ground. How can I challenge this situation?
I also had an $8 fee adjustment from Fedex last month but I was too lazy to follow-up. Now I am really frustrated and want to push back on these adjustments.
I've seen many reddit feeds on this, so I know many of us sellers are struggling with this issue.
Can anyone provide me guidance?
Thanks in advance.

Mentor4 days ago · Edited@skmistry Did you ship the club in a box that was square, if not then you also get a non standard package surcharge. My macro is for Fed Ex because they more frequently add surcharges than UPS but the same process applies.
That sounds like a dimensional weight surcharge. You can try disputing the charges with Fed Ex and UPS.
Only eBay customer service can file the dispute since they are the Fed Ex/ UPS customer. I recommend contacting CS on social media to ask them to do this. Keep in mind that Fed Ex and UPS do sometimes add incorrect surcharges but there are CORRECT surcharges that you can read about on the Fed Ex website and UPS websites.
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from Pirateship. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
Social media is the best way to contact customer service for this issue.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service. ( I feel that it's ok to use this option since it does affect your bottom line.)
Click this link> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814
Then Type PAYOUT In the chat bot box on the lower right.
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

Mentor4 days ago · EditedThe charge may be a dimensional (DIM) charge which is a pricing method that charges for large, lightweight packages based on their volume (size) rather than their actual physical weight. This is common with items such as golf clubs.
What were the items & dimensions of the packages?

OP4 days ago · EditedIt was a golf shaft. The dimensions were 46x4x4.
The weight was 1 lb 5 oz
UPS said the billable weight is 40 lbs
