How can we contact a human customer service agent?
Summary: loquacious_1 shared a frustrating experience with an eBay auction where the item they won was never shipped, and the seller repeatedly changed shipping dates. Attempts to contact the seller failed, and eBay's automated system provided no resolution. loquacious_1 expressed disappointment in eBay's customer service and discussed past positive experiences that contrasted with current issues. eastlaneave suggested filing a chargeback with the payment method as a possible solution. loquacious_1 expressed a loss of trust in online commerce but appreciated the advice given.
An item I won on auction had never shipped so I contacted the seller. No response. Contacted them again. No response. Contacted them a third time, nothing. I waited for the item to bypass the shipping dates when I realized that the shipping dates had been changing and I had proof of this through screen caps. There was no option to ask for eBay to step in and help by then, and reporting that seller did nothing because it was reviewed by Ai and not a human being who would understand the issue, that the seller was a criminal who took my money and walked away with it.
Nothing I do seems to help and all I get is that it’s too late for me to do anything when it was the seller changing delivery dates that caused the problem. A money back guarantee is only as good as those who honor it and I need help with speaking to a human being who will help and deal with this issue properly or I’ll never get my money back while this seller continues to rob eBay customers. There must be a solution to this, could someone please offer the means to reach a human being and not a machine for help?

Mentor1 month agoEbay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers is valid for 30 days from the estimated date of delivery that was shown in your order details in your Purchase History. Sellers cannot change that date.

OP1 month agoSomebody did change the date on that listing, I took screenshots of it and this prevented my ability to ask for help from eBay. I couldn’t ask for a refund, couldn’t cancel, and the item was paid for automatically as it was an auction.
The seller refused to respond and I tried to contact them three times. What more could I do but wait it out? Waiting it out was part of their plan so I wouldn’t have any way to get help. I don’t trust eBay now, and I’ve been buying from this site for many years. Nobody answers our calls and Ai doesn’t appear able to understand anything said to it outside of its scripted responses. This is no way to run a company and is in bad faith. I won’t argue further and am obviously out the $10, while eBay is out a customer.
Good going, over $10, and it’s the principle of the thing. This let me know how little the customer is valued by eBay today and that the phone number I was given to call them with anytime I had an issue was insincere and was eliminated. This is nothing to be so proud of.

If it's too late to file an Item Not Received case,
File a chargeback on your payment method, PayPal, or credit card. That goes back to eBay and your seller.

OP3 weeks agoI will have to do that I suppose, but it’s messed up that it’s necessary when I had trusted eBay to have my back. Some time ago I had a seller stall with excuses and lies on delivering a small item in Tibet. Calling eBay resolved the matter, they kindly and said if it happened again to call back and not worry, they know they have sellers like this and about the methods they use to take advantage of trusting buyers. I believed them and called the same number from in 2024 (866-540-3220), contact name was Ken, only this time nobody responded and essentially eBay can’t be bothered with our problems. This is as good as a death knell for any company.
I’m out $10, so I have to decide if it’s worth it or to call it a cheap lesson in trusting online commerce today. With Amazon it was over a cheap $3 wand dish brush they charged $8 for that they said wasn’t returned, but clearly was, now this. I’m out $18 and got nothing between the two companies, and my trust is forever gone, but at least Amazon just now refunded $28 they owed for a Kwikset smart lock they sold as ‘mint’ without the keys! 🔐 Now I document everything I buy online whereas I rarely had issues in the past. Having spent a good deal of $$$ in both stores, it is infuriating to end up that way, but my sincere thanks to you for understanding all of this and offering good advice.
