how can someone purchase my item for less than the starting bid??
This has happened to me twice now. I have a minimum bid on an item, then I got a message from ebay that the item has sold and to ship it out. Last time I just shipped it out, not wanting negative feedback. But this time I want to know how it's happened and what I do. Minimum bid, $9. Ebay tells me it's sold for $0.99. How is this possible, and what do I do?

Mentor11 months agoThe official bid history shows that the auction only received one bid for 99 cents which was your starting price.

Is it possible you used a $9 buy-it-now price for that auction, rather than a $9 starting bid price?
It certainly appears that auction started at $0.99 and received only one bid:

For items that are likely to receive only one bid, you may be better off using fixed price listings rather than auctions.

OP11 months agoNo, when I looked at it this morning, it said the opening bid was $9, with a minimum offer of $5. But when I saw that it was sold, I hit the button to print the shipping label. After that, I noticed that he'd paid $0.99. This is the second time that someone's purchased something for less than my minimum bid. I'm still kind of a rookie here, so I don't understand how it happens. I've been really careful since the first one. I just sent it out to avoid negative feedback. I'll do the same with this, but I REALLY want to avoid it in the future. I've found ebay's help to be pretty useless. They just said I could 1) cancel the order, or 2) contact the buyer.
