How can I reach someone at ebay to help me remove an improperly charged shipping fee?
I sold an item recently on eBay that a buyer picked up locally but eBay charged me a shipping fee because I noted that the item had been shipped. I can't seem to figure out how to reach anybody to help me remove the shipping fee and release the funds since the buyer already has the item. Any help from an experienced ebay seller would be appreciated!

The only way you can be charged for a shipping label is if you purchased one on eBay. That is not an automatic charge. If you did purchase a label...
You can cancel a label within 28 days of purchase here:
https://www.ebay.com/ship/lmng/labels-history/my-ebay
It will take about 14-21 days for the refund to come through.
More information here:

If you are going to accommodate a local pickup, you need to list that as a shipping option on the item listing before the buyer makes the purchase so he can select it at checkout.
If your buyer paid for any shipping cost that was shown on the listing, you can refund that amount to him by using the Send refund option in the dropdown next to the transaction in your Orders list. (Click the three dots.) One of your recent transactions showed free delivery by FedEx. If that was the item your buyer picked up, then he was not charged anything for shipping, so no refund would be necessary.

OP8 months agoThanks inceptions. I've taken your advice and cancelled the label. And will note that a local pickup is an option for items like the car part that was sold. I really appreciate your info and help! Have a great week.

You're very welcome!
Note that you need to select local pickup as a shipping option so the buyer can choose that at checkout (as opposed to just adding it into the description, if that is what you meant).

Mentor8 months agoHi @ehrkeiv
The two items you sold in the last 90 days are both listed with Shipping but NOT for Local pick-up.
eBay did not charge you a shipping fee but probably charged the Buyer since your sales were set up to ship.
On a true Local pick-up sale the Buyer is given a QR code and a 6 digit code and EITHER can be used at the pick-up for the Seller to confirm the transaction was completed.
On the transaction in question you have probably already received a Late shipping defect because you did not get tracking uploaded and validated by the carrier on the transaction. You can check that on your Seller dashboard here: Seller Dashboard | eBay
Getting one is not the end of the world just so you know.
You are also a new or low activity Seller so regardless of the shipping - delivery status of any transaction your funds can be on hold for up to 30 days: Payments on hold | eBay

OP8 months agoGreat info and very helpful. The item in question was a car part. It was to have free shipping (paid by me) but the buyer preferred to pick it up instead as it was more timely. I will now know that I can note local pick up as an option on future listings... thank you for the advice. And also the explanation as to why the funds are held for a period of time for new sellers.
