How can I get eBay to listen. to stop selling a fraudulent item?
Summary: wowwhatiwanted reported a seller on eBay for allegedly selling a fraudulent product named 'Link 2 Pro', claiming it's a trademark owned by Insta360 and not an authentic product. Despite alerting eBay, the issue was closed without action, supposedly due to AI intervention without proper human oversight. wowwhatiwanted expressed concerns over eBay's use of AI in their decision-making process and potential illegal activities linked to the item being sold. The participant is frustrated by eBay's inaction and questions the integrity and seriousness of eBay's business operations.
I just reported to eBay a seller who is purported to be selling a Link 2 Pro which is a trademark owned by Insta360. That name cannot be used by any other WebCam at all. When a search is done for Insta360 Link 2 Pro it is just about the top search result. I contacted the seller and he said that’s the item he selling because I wanted to buy it myself and I decided that I wouldn’t because that’s not an authentic Link 2 Pro and has nothing to do with the company Insta360. I reported it to eBay and they closed it and said there was nothing wrong with it. All they had to do was a simple Google search to find out that that camera does not exist and has never been made by Insta360. Essentially, I alerted eBay a fraud, which is easy to discover by a simple Google search. They only closed the case because AI did the work for them. That’s what the message said. However, this is fraud. This is one of the most popular Webcams that is ever been made because it actually moves the camera with you in the room and you don’t have to touch it, it’s automatic. This is the epitome of aiding and abetting fraud. If I told them, if I purchased it, I could sue eBay. Since I contacted the seller and I contacted eBay and neither of them listened to me that you cannot sell an item under the name Link 2 Pro with all of that model information that’s in the title. The most basic research of Google search is something that AI completely ignored, and now eBay is liable for selling a fake item. What in the world am I supposed to do when this is the most obvious scam I have ever seen on eBay. It actually makes me question eBay’s business and eBay’s actual seriousness about this matter. All you have to do, like I said, is the most basic research and see that that picture does not match any other picture there is for this item. Every single person knows it. No one would ever buy it that actually has seen the camera before. I don’t know what this seller is selling, and I don’t know who is falling for to people that he knows is wrong, and I’m not sure that he’s not selling something like drugs and just putting on our eBay and having people buy it. Because there is no one in the world that will believe that this item is real. The minute you see the picture, you know it’s not. I’m convinced that there is something illegal being sent here, and I’m convinced that the only people that are buying and bidding on it are people that know something else about what they’re getting. I’m not a conspiracy thinker, but it doesn’t take two brain cells to figure out that every single person who wants the actual authentic item knows it’s not and definitely avoids it or has tried to contact the seller and just given up. I’m telling you, I think I have sort of stepped into how sellers actually can get illegal items to customers who do know what they’re getting and they know it’s not that video camera. I’m telling you, anybody who knows WebCam who has ever done any research at all knows how serious selling that item is. The more people that see it, the more fraud is possible, and if anybody actually buys it, if they have no idea what they’re getting, they may get the most useless piece of electronics and maybe sitting in a small town, using their money on something that is literally worthless. In addition, you can do a Google lens search. with the picture. There are none of that one. There are no actual models of what the title says with that information in the picture. How does one get through to eBay that they have just ignored fraud and are clearly aiding in a betting illegal activity. There is no disclaimer for any AI having settled a case without doing the research. Or is eBay in the pocket of the seller and someone knows exactly what it is because I’ve been getting so many large cashback offers on Capital One shopping for eBay that I was shocked and if they aren’t suffering financially and taking any money they can get, I’d be surprised. I do have theories about what’s happening at eBay, because I used to sell so much on there and I know feedback is fake. because the seller has some of the lowest feedback I’ve ever seen for someone who gets a very highly placed search result.

OP2 weeks agoSimply using AI and not having a human oversee the decision is probably going to be something we will have to address in the future. They may be using AI because it’s cheap and they don’t have to use a person. But AI is not flawless, and AI probably can be manipulated. I have just understood some of the problems with AI. AI is completely flawed, and it doesn’t understand distinguishing fake and authentic.
