how can a seller i order from earlier cancel my order for what seems like a bogus reason.
i ordered and paid for a vintage wooden shelf and withing hours the seller cancelled and refunded my money with bogus reason of damaged or out of stock. this makes me never ever to trust ebay again and i will never order from this again. i think the seller wanted more money

The seller did not do anything wrong. In fact the reason they selected actually goes against their statistics that Ebay tracks on sellers and it is harmful to the health of their selling account. So many sellers try to get away with saying the buyer asked for the cancellation so it doesn't hurt their account. This seller did not do that. They took responsibility for the issue.
Maybe the seller found damage on the item as they were preparing it for delivery. Who knows, but unlikely it was about how much you paid for it as the cancellation reason this seller selected actually hurts them.

You may be able to find another seller with similar items in stock, if you think there is any reason to not shop from a particular seller it is always a good idea to review their recent feedback to see how other customers experience have been for that seller. The one in your instance, without knowing for certain the condition of the Vintage item, it might actually have been damaged as the seller has indicated and chose to refund your funds.
