How are sellers getting ripped off?
Summary: clmechanical expressed frustration over the difficulty in obtaining support from eBay for issues related to selling, returns, and fees. They criticized the lack of human contact options and outlined how fees are calculated by eBay, including a percentage based on the entire transaction amount. krazzykats agreed, noting that sometimes selling on eBay might not be worth the costs and effort. eburtonlab explained that the fees are intended to prevent sellers from circumventing correct pricing. They suggested that the forum is a good place to seek advice from experienced users.
We are not able to connect properly with someone to provide guidance when selling, returns or refunds, yet we have all these fees that some how make no sense. Thought, If you have your own shipping accounts is best than buying shipping labels from ebay but the irony is that it will not matter as ebay still charges you the 13.6% on top of the total sold amount in which includes item's sale amount, item tax, shipping, then hit you with 13.6% of all that, after that a value service fee of $.40 is added and if your lucky an optional fee on some items comes in handy and can range from $.10 to $.20 +. In the other hand there's no one to assist as they have removed the contact # from the Help/Contact selection. The bot gives you the runaround. Help for seller's is limited and dont expect to get money back on ebay fees.

Mentor2 weeks agoeBay charges the seller a fee based on the total amount the buyer pays, regardless of how shipping is handled. It is not a fee for shipping, it is a fee for selling on eBay.
This prevents a seller from selling a $100 item for $1 and charging $99 shipping, and then paying eBay a fee for a $1 sale. It is a $100 sale no matter how that amount is divided between the item price and the shipping price.
If you have questions about selling, this is a good place to ask them if you want advice from experienced users.

Mentor2 weeks agoYes, it is expensive to sell on eBay. And some items are not worth the time, trouble and expense to sell here.
