high value item refunded to customer that obviously was scaming seller
Good evening,
currently I have experienced an issue with ebay's resolution of a return case where eBay has refunded a buyer full amount of about 1700 eur for a purchase. The customers account was frashly created a week ago without ratings from romania.
The buyer was refunded within a matter of 1-2 days after the claim was opened without considering or waiting for full investigation to be completed from my side.
It is clear that the buyer was trying to stage that he have received an empty package even though as of now the ups did not disprove that. The photos the buyer sent did clearly showed an manipulated shipping label.
Ebay closed the case without once contacting me even though i have told them multiple times that ups investigation is still pending.
As for a seller who sells mainly high value items this situation is alarming as clearly ebay is taking such matters way too lightly.
Should the ups investigation reveil that the package was delivered correctly I will have no choice to sui the customer for fraud and also ebay for neglegenace.
Bascially what this incident showed me is that it is completely unsafe to sell on ebay platform as some newly created account with questionable identity can just send ebay stages photos and get full refund.
I hope for sellers reading this post will take some time to take legal steps agains customer and ebay as this is currently the only way to make both parties aware of the wrong doing

Mentor4 months agoIf the buyer filed a case ("request") with a valid reason per the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, they were entitled to a full refund.

the case is dealt in ebay u.s so this is the correct forum to post. Currently all evidence points to the customer trying to perform a scam. UPS currently confirms the weight of the package, the photos sent by the customer clearly show that the package was tampered with and presumably customer have faked the shipping label. The customers account is new and without ratings.
If anyone can get away with this that makes ebay unsafe for any seller.
Filling a return request with "valid reason" should not automatically quality for a refund. Everyone can claim they have received empty packaging and send a photo of an empty box. If that is enough for ebay to refund the purchase than sorry, your system is broken and should not be used for business purposes or sale of high value low volume items periond
