High number of account verification request from newly opened accounts

Question

Is it normal to be receiving over 10 messages a day from newly opened accounts claiming to be eBay and demanding I verify my account? This is a big turn off and makes me question if I even want to become a seller on eBay if this is an ongoing issue.

Scammers often specifically target new sellers, since scammers figure new sellers are less likely to know how eBay works and are more likely to fall for a scam of one sort or another.
