You are required to ship the item to the buyer at the address provided and it would be more than creepy for a buyer to receive a phone call from you conducting an investigation on him before you ship. What do you think is going to happen when you ask him if he's a thief? If he's a thief, do you think he's going to tell you the truth?
There is nothing unusual for a buyer to have only 5 feedbacks in 7 years. (I have a favorite website I haven't bought from in more than 7 years, but I look at their assortment every so often and will buy from them in the future if they have something I'm looking for. Hopefully they won't call the police on me!)
Ship with tracking as you are required to do and get an acceptance scan from your carrier or post office when you ship (as you should for EVERY package you mail). If the order is for $750+, get signature confirmation (otherwise it's an unnecessary expense).
