help with refund
I bought a lighter and received a similar but not the same as shown in the listing. I contacted the seller. They apologized for the mistake and said they would provide a return label within a day or so. I received the label and shipped the item back. They indicated that after they receive the item back, they would issue a refund. After a few days, I did not hear anything more back. I checked the tracking number and it was received several days ago. I sent the seller a message and received a response that they are out of the office until 8/31/25.
I then realized that everything was done through a conversation with them and that I never started the actual return process. When I try to start the return process, it wants a picture of the product to show the discrepancy. I never took any pictures since the conversation with the seller seems like it was all being taken care of.
The return window for a return ends on August 20. Well before the seller is expected to be back in the office. There doesn't seem to be any obvious ways of contacting ebay support without having a photo.
What are my options here? Wait until the seller gets back and hopes he does the right thing? Dispute the issue with PayPal? Some other eBay option?
