Help with "Item Not Received" request.
Summary: gwbarretoanchor shared an issue about buying a guitar gig bag from a seller who did not provide a tracking number. After opening an "Item Not Received" case, the seller updated the tracking but then became unresponsive once the case was closed. gwbarretoanchor expressed concern over potential fraud and difficulty in obtaining a refund. arraus advised contacting eBay Customer Support during specific hours and suggested keeping cases open until items are received to avoid similar issues in the future.
I bought a guitar gig bag, but the seller did not provide the tracking number. The item was marked as shipped, but it never arrived within the estimated delivery time.
I wasn't receiving any tracking information or getting any response from the seller, I opened a resolution case for an "Item Not Received" request.
However, as soon as I opened the case, the seller responded and told me that he had just updated the tracking number. He then asked if I could close the case.
I closed the case in good faith because he was polite, and I thought he was being honest. I trusted his words because I thought there might have been an error on the website with the tracking information or something similar.
Now, I'm not getting any response from the seller, I still don't have a tracking number, and I can't reopen the case.
It may be a scam, I know, but I really think there should be a way for eBay to protect its community in situations like this. I really need a refund, but there don't seem to be any agents available to help me right now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to contact eBay Customer Support during business USA hours, 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM Pacific Time (PT). You might be able to send an email, if that's shown as an option.
For the future, NEVER close an "Item Not Received" case until you actually have the item in your hands. An open case doesn't hurt an honest seller. They just need to upload a valid tracking number to protect themselves.
I would suggest going to Help & Support in eBay, select the CHAT option and write "AGENT", "Speak to AGENT". That should get a you a living person.
When you contact Customer Support, have the Order or Return # handy.
Good luck. Sorry you're having such a bad experience with this seller.
