Help with eBay shipping insurance
I recently sold an item on eBay and used eBay’s ups shipping service. Paid for item insurance etc and shipped it like normal, well packaged and it arrived to the buyer. The buyer stated it was damaged at arrival and denied delivery, so it was supposed to be returned to sender (me) but then ups stopped shipping the item back to me and their tracking service says it’s damaged and they discarded it.
note - I have sold items with eBay for 14 years and never have I ever had an issue with damaged in transit items, ever!
so I reached out to ups to file a claim. They said eBay has to handle this. They gave me a special eBay email that I reached out to with no response. I have tried multiple attempts to contact them here and through ups help chats.
I have reached out to eBay’s support channels for help and they say because I voluntarily refunded the buyer (what the heck, buyer protection nearly forced me to and it’s not the buyers fault it arrived damaged) they will not help with this item at all!
im quite upset being a eBay user for 14 years now and I’m out $640 worth of an item and so much hassle over this. What good is buying the insurance if eBay flat out refused to help?

OP2 years agoYes I paid for additional shipping insurance via us. Shipcover is for usps only.
I have wasted more hours today with no resolution. This is unethical that this claims process is so difficult!

I would try asking the eBay for business group on facebook - maybe they can help. I know others have had a hard time getting started, but it the guide in the insurgence page link has worked for them.

OP2 years agoI’ve already done that. As you can see from my original post. Ups says to talk to eBay. eBay says to talk to ups

Did you follow the ups guide that is linked on the insurance page? It is set up for use by eBay sellers.
Did you purchase additional ups insurance? Or Shipcover?
