Help with a scam seller!
I've used eBay for years and finally fell for a scam seller when shopping for a new PC and not sure what to do, or where to go now.
I was looking for a new PC and found one at a good price, so I "made an offer" which was even lower than what the seller had listed. They accepted my offer...at this point I actually looked at the sellers profile - Brand new account created just 2 weeks ago with no history. They did have a couple other small items listed for sale though.
After my purchase was charged to me within moments, the seller created a shipping label so I thought all was well and my suspicious views weren't founded.
However, the seller immediately at this point delisted the other items they had and put an "away" status on their shop. Then I noticed that the seller was in New York, but the shipping label was created in South Carolina and was left at a UPS Access Point.
My item "shipped" with tracking all the way to the day it was "delivered". The morning of the "delivery" I saw the tracking stating it arrived at my local UPS hub and went out for delivery at 8:26 am, by apx. 9:30 am my UPS driver arrived and handed my an Amazon order, but nothing else...so I inquired him and showed him the tracking for my PC but he was confused because he loaded his truck and left the hub by 7:30 am that morning and had no record of my package. He was tried being helpful by triple checking his truck and his records but to no avail and apologized but stated he had no clue what was going on.
Fast forward a few moments and the eBay seller messaged me saying there was an issue with my shipping address (the same one I've used on eBay for 10 years) and he was trying to find my package - even though UPS tracking showed it delivered?! In the tracking details it says my package was left at the 'side door' of my home, but I don't even have a side door!
But as the seller messages me they put in a cancel request on my order through eBay and didn't tell me.
After a few days of waiting on eBay to cancel the order and refund me they rejected the request and now I'm sitting here with no PC and over $1600 missing from my bank account.
Can anyone help tell me where to go from here and what to do?
Years ago eBay had a customer support phone number and email address, but I can't find that they do currently and I'm at a loss.

OP8 months agoThank you for sharing your insight on this - It's very much appreciated.
I'm so glad I had every single moment of this experience documented and that I have a fairly large & reputable Twitter account.
After going to the @AskeBay Twitter page/ private chat they were very quick in looking into the case for me and issued a refund.
The @AskeBay person (Daniel) who looked into the details and assisted me was extremely polite, clear and concise.
First time being duped by a scam on eBay after 20 years and lesson learned about purchasing from new seller's without any history.
Again, thank you for your insight and direction - Sincerely appreciated!

You were scammed ...
Unfortunately, you have fallen prey to the False tracking number scam. If You file a claim through eBay that you did not receive the item you will lose because eBay tracking shows it was delivered.
You need to get a document from the Carrier stating that the package was not delivered to your address and then contact eBay with that information to prove delivery confirmation was to a different address than yours. Make sure you tell eBay it was a False tracking number scam.
We recently learned that many of the links we post to Request a call back are now simply forwarding members to eBay's Customer Service "How can we help you today?" page (link below). On that page members have to complete numerous choices before being given ways to be in direct contact with eBay. Depending on the subject, representative availability and other factors requesting a call back may or may not be possible. Chat or an email may be provided. If you get a Chat box Type “AGENT in the box. You can also contact eBay through Social Media if you have accounts there

If for some reason eBay does not refund you then you will have to pursue a dispute with your card company or PayPal. Just know that if you do that eBay will not support you at all if you run into issues with the dispute.
Make sure you report the Seller: Report an issue with a seller | eBay
