Help with a possible scam
I'm a new eBay seller and just sold a Nintendo 2DS with some games. All the games and 2DS were in their cases and I wrapped all of that individually in bubble wrap and put it into a box.
Someone bought my listing and when they received it yesterday afternoon requested a refund, claiming that the package was beat up and the 2DS and games were missing. (The most expensive parts of the listing) They claimed all they received were empty game boxes and a charger. After looking into the buyer, they have 0 reviews and their account has been around since 2022.
I went to my local post office to get a detailed tracking report to see if it was possible that something happened to the package, but they weren't very helpful and couldn't find any information that helped.
I haven't accepted the refund yet and was wondering how to proceed. Can I contact eBay and ask for help?

·1 year agoDon’t do anything until and unless they file an item not as described case. If they do, you don’t want to involve eBay; it will not end well for you. You may have to refund the buyer. I wish you had come here before listing that. You would’ve been cautioned that listing electronics as a low feedback seller would make you a target for scammers.

OP1 year agoSo is there anything I can do to report the buyer or file a dispute?

·1 year agoThere’s no dispute that can be filed on your end. IF they file an item not as described case, and IF they send back anything different than what you sent them, then you can report the buyer for abusing the money back guarantee, but it won’t improve the outcome of the case for you.
