Help returning item after payment dispute [as a buyer]
Hello! Hoping I can get some insight from the community on this.
I purchased an item and received two debits on it -- one from paypal, one from my bank. I claimed this as erroneous and filed a payment dispute. However, after a call, I was informed the paypal debit was a temporary hold and would be cleared in 3-5 business days of receiving payment from my bank. Not a problem. Case has been resolved, item paid for, and case closed since February 19th.
I've received the item and need to return it now. The seller accepts returns within 30 days and after communicating with them, they are willing to accept a return. But when I try to return the item, I am prompted with:
"We can't process your request at this time.
Unfortunately, you can't file this request. You already filed a dispute for this order with your payment institution."
Again, the dispute was denied (it was my error as I didn't understand the double debit until I called, so I did not request a refund), the case closed. The seller is willing to accept a return now and is simply waiting for me to issue it.
How do I navigate this so that I can return the item properly? Thanks so much for your time and help!

Because that case was opened once, you can't open an eBay case.
If the seller is cooperative, ask the seller to send you a return label. Understand you won't have eBay protection in this case.
