Help needed with difficult buyer and potential scammer
Summary: mi-843199 shares a concern regarding a problematic buyer who, despite being blocked, managed to send a message and place an order. The buyer had previously expressed dissatisfaction with an offer, and upon further investigation, was found to have many negative reviews. mi-843199 is seeking advice on how to handle the situation without incurring a negative impact, particularly regarding canceling the order due to the buyer's poor credibility. mudshark61369 explains how a prior transaction might allow the buyer to bypass the block and advises caution in future interactions, highlighting potential consequences of canceling the transaction.
Hello,
Would you be able to share best practice?
I have a buyer who asked for an offer. After the offer was send, the buyer had a very long personal story that I should consider their life circumstances and that they are extremely unhappy about the offer, therefore they are not interested. I send a thank you note letting them know that this is what we can provide. I wished them well.
In the mean time I was able to view their profile and discovered that they have a lot of negative reviews to a point that they are scammer's. To avoid further interactions I blocked the buyer. Couple days later they message me again and asked if i can send them the offer again. Erroneously under autopilot I send the offer. A minute later I realized that this is the buyer that I blocked. I was surprised that the byer was able to message although they were blocked. Today I received an order from them.
How is this possible if they are blocked - rhetorical question: obviously it was possible - lesson's learned.
Would you be able to share what are the options to exit this situation without negative impact?
If the order is canceled on my end, is there an option to say "uncomfortable sending the item because of poor credibility of the buyer"?
What would you do?
Appreciate the reply!

"I have a buyer who asked for an offer. After the offer was send..."
Did the buyer send you an offer first or ask you what you would sell the item for? If they sent an offer, that is part of a transaction which remains open between you and a buyer. Because of that, they could message you and buy the item, even though you blocked them.
They will not be able to buy from or contact you about other items you have listed. In the future I suggest checking the feedback profile of any buyer who messages you or sends an offer. If you do not like what you see ignore the message or decline the offer and block the buyer.
Did they pay for the item? if they did cancelling the transaction can affect your account. There is not a legitimate cancellation reason you can use to cancel the transaction.

OP3 weeks agoThank you mudshark61369. You are correct , they did message me first I did block them after that interaction. I also found out that they have a store and the story about the personal struggle is most likely made up as part of the soliciting. The problem is this, after they purchased - paid for the item they most likely will keep it but ask for refund. I will not see the item and have to pay. What would you do?
