eBay is insisting I refund the buyer AFTER HE HAS RECEIVED THE CORRECT ITEM

eBay doesn’t handle exchanges very well. It is usually better to refund the buyer for the return and let him repurchase the correct item. I know this time of year they probably would not want to wait, so I hope they will close the return for you.
