Help! I bought a Gibson Les Paul fake
eBay hasn’t helped me with this and I don’t know what to do. On 4/28/24 I bought a 2006 Gibson Les Paul on eBay from a real pawnshop.
the guitar arrived well packaged, and I have used it occasionally for 7 months. I decided to sell it again on eBay because it really didn’t feel right and I paid $1550. I thought I got a good deal, when I listed it so many people said it’s fake- open truss cover. I did and there’s no truss rod.
I filed a complaint with eBay but they just took my listing down as a counterfeit- what am I supposed to do?

·1 year agoBecause you're so far past the eBay Money Back Guarantee on the original purchase, and you cannot sell counterfeit items here on eBay regardless of disclosing that or not, there's really not much you can do at this point. You can definitely take it to a guitar dealer or service center near you to see if they can validate whether it's a fake or not, but you're going to be unable to resell it here on eBay if it is fake. There's a chance you could still file a chargeback with your original purchase method, but many don't allow that after that timeframe either. It's probably the best option worth checking into, though, depending on how you paid. Sorry you ran into this problem!

im sorry but that doesn’t sit well with me. If I buy an item from a pawnshop that turns out to be fake- I should have protection, there is no statute of limitations on selling fraudulent merchandise online.
im probably going to contact local law enforcement and request they accompany me to the actual pawnshop with the paperwork and their payment to request a full refund. I will also report them to BBB and pawnbrokers because what about the next guy?
