Help! Being scammed by a buyer

I sold a container of sol de Janeiro cocoa cabana cream that you cannot buy in the store anymore for $55. The customer and I messaged back-and-forth and she asked me to open the container and send her pictures of the contents to make sure that it was the right color because she didn’t want to get scammed. I assured her that it was an authentic product. But agreed to open the container and send pictures also told her that once I opened it if she purchased one from me that would be the one that I would send her. She said she wanted to buy at least one, maybe both that I had. The day that she received it, she sent me a nasty message, saying that I scammed her that it was not the actual product. She didn’t know what I filled it with, but whatever it was she was allergic to wasn’t even the correct box and went on and on and demanded a refund. I agreed to accept the item back. I received the item back today and it has been filled with some sort of conditioner or something. It doesn’t even smell like cocoa nut, it’s very sticky. I’ve never dealt with this before and I’m not sure where to go from here. I can’t get any help from eBay. The best that I’m finding is that I can possibly dispute it with a chance to only refund her half of her money back when I’m stuck with the product that I can’t sell, for all I know it could be glue! it’s trash. Please help.

Mentor1 week agoSorry this happened to you. Sounds like she took the product from the container and filled it with something else. Only a Top Rated Seller is able to reduce a refund up to 50%. So all you will be able to do is to report the buyer for misusing the money back guaranty which will place an internal mark on the buyers account that eBay will monitor for additional complaints from other sellers.
