Help! Account mistakenly suspended
Summary: chumleyx reported that their eBay account was unexpectedly suspended without a reason provided, despite not having used it for two years and not believing it to be compromised. My account was suspended out of the blue (I assume it was a mistake). No reason of any kind was given.
All information states there should be an emailed / messaged reason provided for the suspension and a way for me to get my account reinstated. I checked my ebay messages -- no additional details were provided beyond this one notice that my account was suspended:
"We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been permanently suspended because of activity that we believe was putting the eBay community at risk. We understand that this must be frustrating, but this decision was not made lightly and it’s important that we keep our marketplace safe for everyone. For more information, see our article on how and why accounts can be suspended or review our User Agreement.
Here’s what you need to know
You will no longer be able to use your account to buy or sell items and any new accounts you set up may also be suspended.
Any listings have been removed and they can be viewed below.
We’ve credited any associated fees for your listings, except for the transaction fees for your sold items.
Any outstanding selling fees are due and will be charged to your payment method on file. If you’ve already opened any dispute claims for these fees, they won’t be charged until the claims have been resolved.
Any store subscriptions have been canceled.

I haven't even used the account in two years, but there's no evidence it was compromised. I've never been delinquent on a payment. I've been using this account responsibly since the late 1990s. What should I do?

Mentor3 weeks agoYour account does not show "Not a registered user" so either the message was a mistake, or someone is trying to scam you.

OP3 weeks agoYeah, I suspected it was a scam immediately, but checked the email headers and they appeared legit. Not to mention the message sent to ebay messages.

OP3 weeks agoActually, I think I'm ok. I was just able to purchase a small item that had been on my radar as a test, and it looks like the purchase went through without any problems. So in this case, I'll assume the suspension message itself was sent by mistake.
