Help
I bought an item that the lid was defective and didn't work. I emailed the seller directly where he said he would send out another lid to see if that would work. The seller never did it and now the seller won't respond to any of my emails.

When ever you receive an item that doesn't work, is defective... etc. You should open an Item Not as Described dispute. If the seller deals with it promptly in the way they are supposed to, sending you a return shipping label or issuing a full or partial refund, their account will not be harmed.
You should never accept an offer from a seller to send a replacement item or part. Usually, the sellers who make those offers are foreign ones who then try to stall you past the point of being able to get a refund from ebay, 30 days from tracking showing receipt of the item or the last estimated delivery date if tracking was not provided. Once they have done that you no longer have any ebay options.
If you paid with a credit card, you may be able to get the provider to do a charge back, but they may need proof of the non working part or item, before they will do that. Calling the customer service number on the back of a card and asking the rep what you may need to do to have a charge back issued, would be the way to start.
You need to read the terms of ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) so you know what to do in the future.

Mentor1 year agoOpen a return request. State the reason as "defective" or doesn't work.
The seller will have to respond. They will have to provide a return label. You return the item and get a refund.
IF they do not, you can ask eBay to step in.
