Have feedback scores displayed wrong as 100% when they're not? Was 16.7%

Question

Searched for a small appliance, and found what I wanted, NIB. Seven sold, one left. Seller's feedback score 100%, so thought, "great, I'll buy it."

Now seller's Feedback displays as 16.7%.

First, how can a seller with a score that low be allowed to keep selling? I've never, ever, ever-ever-ever seen a score that low. That's like whale-p00p low.

Second, was I dreaming seeing a 100% score? Was there a feedback-score glitch that day (3/18/2026)?

I need this appliance sooner than later. I'll have to waste time jumping thru all the refund hoops to get $$ back, then start all over.

Thanks for any info on the FB score glitch... or maybe I was dreaming.

Forgot... seller since December 2025. 7 followers! 72 items listed, all Banana Republic clothing, all exactly the same price ($33.33 US). Weird.

Thanks for quick replies. Feedback shows "72 items sold," and 7 feedback scores. Of 7 FB postings: 5 red, 1 gray, 1 green. No dates on any, just "past month" (not helpful).

I'd love to look elsewhere for the appliance, but it'll be a long while until this purchase is resolved. What if item has shipped? Details page say it hasn't shipped, but that's not proof. I'd be stuck with it, and the next one if I buy another. Unable to cancel this purchase... tried that before, and it never works, just raises my BP due to frustration. Don't need 2 of these things.

Shoulda bought on Amazon or Walmart. No iffy sellers there if you opt out of such listings (not an option here).

I'm not aware of any glitch with FB scores, but I also have never seen a score that low. That said, there are some instances where an excellent seller's FB can drop quickly & dramatically. Those situations are usually hospitalizations or death 😢 Unfortunately, active sellers do die on occasion & when that happens, they can often very suddenly have a huge drop in their FB numbers due to a sudden rash of unfulfilled sales.

If it is currently showing as 16.7% I would probably find another seller, as it coud be a sign of a number of issues, including but not limited to what I described above.

I don't think there have been any glitches, but there are a few reasons why the score could drop that low. I'm guessing the seller doesn't have a lot of feedback to work with to start with. And since the feedback percentage is calculated every day based on feedback received within the past year, it could change dramatically if a lot of positives dropped off all at once and then the seller earned some negatives. Without being able to see it, I can only guess.

eBay doesn't evaluate sellers based on feedback. Sellers must maintain several strict metric scores for compliance to continue as a seller. These are behind the scenes, so others can't see them.
