Has anyone had the pleasure of the site malfunctioning then being held responsible for its errors?
So I had an issue with a buyer and asked eBay to step in on 12/23/25. The site was not allowing me to speak to a representative through chat (those screenshots are on another device; I am traveling, but I can get them to whoever in this company that actually cares about its customers). I did the only thing that I could, and I sent a "Report a Buyer" message because I could not get through.
Three days pass, and on 12/26/25 I am told that I did not resolve the issue, so I finally get chat to work, then spend the following three hours on the phone with various reps all telling me that it's not their fault the site didn't work, apologized for it, then said they could not help and would not help. I was then told to receive the item in question as a return and then it would be handled appropriately using the "Seller Protection" option. I am also told that I will receive a phone call between 24-72 hours later by 2/3 representatives. I do not receive a call, instead I go through the channels to speak to a rep again on 12/30 who assures me the issue will be resolved and my negative feedback removed if the item is functional, and I am told that when I receive the item to test it, to contact eBay and that we will go from there. I am also told that if I do not receive the item back by 1/15, it will be a moot point.
I receive the item back on 1/10, (it does function, contrary to the buyer's claim) and within 45 minutes of the item landing on my porch (in the SAME bubble wrap/paper that the buyer complained about being "ineffective"), eBay refunds the money to the buyer. I am livid, then call eBay, and "Christina" tells me that my problem will be escalated, that I had NOT spoken to eBay as many times as I said I had (I reminded her that I have all of the conversations recorded, but she refused to receive them), and that I would receive a phone call within 24-72 from a manager that would allow me to offer the recorded phone calls. No phone call from eBay, but I do receive the email from "Abi L." found below who states he/she will be taking over the case, and continues illustrating a complete lack of understanding of the issue. I respond almost immediately asking where the remaining 75% of the information is, and 24 hours later receive the included email below from "Ruth" stating the case had been closed and that I simply didn't agree with the decision, and that it's really a "me" issue, then gives patronizing information on how to avoid things in the future.
I have been lied to ever since this started. I have been told I was wrong, that their site was fully functional despite the fact that the rep could not see the screen from his/her end, and no one cares. The worst part is the patronization: when you call you are told "It shows here you have been with us for 23 years. We value your dedication to us! Thank you!", then they lie and ignore you.
Someone please give me the excuse as to why this happens. I can't wait to hear the lies that come out.
