Has anyone ever gotten a laptop "released" from GoogleLLC "Remote Management"? NEED HELP!!!
Dear eBay community,
I recently posted my nightmare scenario. After happily using an Apple Macbook Pro laptop(2021), that I bought on April 30, 2023, for $1453.14, from a vendor here on eBay, last week I finally followed Apple's prompts to update the OS. Everything went well until I put in my password, as I always did. Instead a screen popped up stating that this computer is "owned by GOOGLE LLC" --- with all the related specifics (that Google LLC can remove or add apps, wipe it entirely, etc, etc). Since then, I've taken it to a computer repair shop, spoken for hours with Apple diagnostic team, then Apple Business Management Department. The very kind rep there explained that it wasn't properly released from "Remote Management" by Google LLC at the time that it was received by the seller. Apple Business Management sent me links to directions on getting it "released," but said it was a process that could only be handled between the eBay seller & GOOGLE LLC. "You are a victim," he said. I've called the number shown on the screen for Google LLC multiple times, and sent many messages to the eBay seller, but neither entity has responded to me. I get it---what's the incentive---other than doing the RIGHT THING?! My seller had and still has 100% positive ratings and I want them to keep that good reputation! I don't want to return it, I don't want any money. I'm not even angry. Just trying to sort out this loss. All I hope for is someone to respond to my email asking for help with it. CRAZY scary that such a thing can happen! I buy everything 2nd-hand and have never had any problems with eBay until this, aaaargh. Is there anyone out there who has ever experienced this? I'm curious how often it happens and if there is any way anyone can get help...?
