If a seller is demanding payment via gift card, that is a sign you are not involved in an eBay transaction any more.

eBay transactions take place on ebay.com, and eBay sellers do not know or care what payment method their buyers use when purchasing online.

eBay transactions do not take place over email or social media, though scammers often try to convince users that that is how eBay works.
