Hardware / Software issue
I recently am dealing with a chargeback on a specialized piece of dental equipment. The hardware which consisted of a touchscreen interface computer and a ultra sound scanner worked and operated perfectly, however required a membership and monthly service fee for use. The buyer did not understand this and is trying to claim not as described. The item was photographed abd when asked I told the buyer that it did not have a current account with the service provider.
I likened this to a buyer purchasing a cell phone and expecting device to be included for the rest of their lives.
since they initiated a charge back do I have any options ?

Once your Buyer opens a chargeback, that automatically voids their protection from eBay. The ultimate decision about the dispute will be made by the Buyer's payment source.
EBay should have sent you an email about the dispute and any action you need to take.

OP11 months agoSo basically what you’re telling me is once a buyer escalates to a chargeback, eBay washes its hands of the transaction and the seller has zero recourse. The order disappears from my ledger, the appeal option vanishes, and I’m left fighting a bank that will almost always side with its own customer.
Let’s be honest — sending in “evidence†is just a formality to make sellers feel like they had a chance. In reality, the bank refunds their cardholder, eBay closes the book, and the seller loses both the item and the money.
This isn’t protection , it’s abandonment. If “seller protection†doesn’t apply when a buyer cries “not as described,†and I can’t even appeal because the transaction was deleted, then what exactly are sellers being protected from? Certainly not losses like this.

eBay doesn’t ‘wash their hands of it’. The buyer has gone beyond eBay to their funding source. At this point, eBay’s hands are tied.
