Handling a return
Summary: bikeshop15212 is handling their first return request from a buyer who misread the product description. Although their listing states 'no returns', they agreed to accept it back but are concerned about over-refunding. They plan not to refund shipping or any fees they incurred and seek advice on handling the situation properly.
Hi, I’ve had my first return request! The buyer claimed the item doesn’t match the description, though it does, they just misread it. The listing says returns not accepted, but I have agreed to take it back and they have sent it. I just feel nervous about over-refunding them. I feel nervous about “accepting return” because I don’t think I am at fault, won’t be paying back shipping or any fees i was charged. I know it isn’t worth nit picking, but want to go about the right way if anyone has advice.
Thanks!

Mentor2 weeks agoIf they have opened a return for "not as described" it does not matter if it was or it is or it isn't, you have no real choice.
You will have to refund if they return the item and you will have to pay shipping both ways. If you do not accept the return, you are saying you do not want it back, but you still will have to refund.
The best thing to do is accept the return and chalk it up as a bad experience and move on. Any attempt to fight it, avoid it or get around it will not be successful. eBay will side with the buyer no matter what the condition of the item was when it was shipped. It's part of the eBay Money back guarantee that ebay provides buyers.
