Got scammed hard, unsure what to do.
This is embarrassing, but I bought a pre-order item from a seller long ago that hasn't arrived, and I very much don't think it will, ever. We had a back and forth for a while through messages where he showed me e-mail proof from Amazon that the item he sold me was delayed. I believed him because the item was a STALKER 2 Ultimate Edition pre-order that, for obvious reasons, was having much difficulty being manufactured and sent out to buyers; there's friends of mine that still haven't gotten their copy after buying it from the official website. I last spoke to the seller back in May where I asked him if there were any updates. I decided to ping him again today to see what's going on and it turns out he's deleted his account entirely.
Now I can't open up a return/refund request, nor is the automated helper of any use since this transaction happened more than 90 days ago, and honestly I think I'm screwed. Is there anything that can be done or should I just move on?

OP1 year agoUnfortunately my purchase is much, much older than 180 days, so its looking less likely anything can be done about this.
Still, I do appreciate the policy links. I'll be certain to keep those in mind from now on.

It might be worth contacting your card issuer anyway; in some cases you may be able to dispute a purchase even after 180 days.

Sellers of presale items are required to provide the exact date the item becomes available in the listing and are also required to ship within 40 business days of the sale. But buyers must know about the policy in order to use the Money Back Guarantee in the time allowed.
On eBay, buyers have up to thirty days from the last estimated delivery date shown at the time of purchase to file a case. After that, eBay can no longer help.

PayPal and many credit cards provide some protection for up to 180 days from the time of purchase. Check with your card issuer to see if you have any options remaining. Once your credit card protection expires your options are limited.
