Got scammed, eBay denying appeal, going to lose my apartment
I had an order that was supposedly delivered on the 7th but I couldn't find it. Got a delivery picture from FedEx, and it was a place I didn't recognize. No one in my apartment nor elsewhere in the building recognized it either. When I called FedEx, they wouldn't give me any information, as my name and address did not match the name and address they had associated with the tracking number I was provided (even though I was looking at the eBay order details that very clearly showed my name, address, and that very tracking number.) I immediately contacted eBay support, they said a refund was absolutely assured, and the seller could file a claim with fedex. They measaged the seller on my behalf, asking them to contact FedEx. I also messaged them numerous times over the next few days with no response at all. Yesterday I found out that my refund was denied because the seller provided tracking info proving it was delivered to me. I of course appealed it, and provided every detail of my experience, as well as screenshots of the delivery, of text messages with neighbors and roommates, none of whom recognized the location, and of my call log showing the dates and times of my calls to eBay and FedEx support.
I just now found out that my appeal was denied and the decision is final. There is no additional information, nor any explanation as to why this vague "tracking info" from the seller is more trustworthy than my multiple pieces of evidence that I never received it. I am going to get evicted from my apartment for losing this money and eBay won't even call me. I have put in maybe 15 requests to be called back today via the chatbot and have not received a single call. Now it doesn't even give me the choice, it just lets me send an email.
What are my options here? I can't afford a normal lawyer, but I am willing to do whatever legwork is necessary to not become unhoused over this. Please help me, this is kind of actually an emergency ðŸ™

I'm sorry that happened.
1) You already did your homework by gathering documents from Fedex about the tracking number.
Add this to your documents:
You can usually find the weight and other details for FedEx here:
https://www.fedex.com/en-us/tracking.html
Then click 'View More Details' to see the package weight. Screenshot that.
2) Then, report the seller using this process
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Important, select "The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake USPS tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on social media this way:
Just sent a private message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
Let me know how this goes, I've been burned a few times myself (including on Amazon), but I have been able to get a refund following this process.
There are additional steps to take if the above isn't effective, just come back and update me.

OP8 months agoWell no response at all, but the refund money just showed up in my bank account lol. I'll take it, though an apology would have been nice too 🤣🤣

A response would be nice, but a refund is best! Wonderful news and thank you for reporting back!
