Good bye eBay, Not sorry to leave you after being a customer for 30 years.
I tried to logon to my eBay account via a VPN and eBay's crappy software opened a window with a secret code number and a phone # and asked me to call the # and provide the code. I did and then some woman with poor English language skills came-on and started asking me questions. After the third question I told her I was not interested in continuing to waste my time compensating for eBay's extremely poor upper management team's extremely poor judgment and decision-making abilities. I am done with eBay and will switch to Amazon as my go-to online marketplace. EBay and its idiotic upper management team can go to hell, as far as I am concerned. Screw eBay. EBay lost a customer of over 30 years because it is run by idiots.

OP8 months agoTheoretically, you are correct... however I would guess that sometimes the incompetency of eBay's management team that folks so frequently experience on the platform finds its way to someone who can correct the error. Back in the late 1990s I contacted eBay TWICE about the programming error in its site that I am confident all smart and observant eBay uses have seen yet eBay refuses to correct the error. The problem is that from day-one, eBay has never had a smart competent manager of its website. What a shame.
I was hoping that someone might know of an unpublished email address or phone # where a smart competent person at eBay could be reached, however I am starting to believe that such a person is not employed by eBay.

eBay does not publish a phone number or email address, but you can write to their headquarters if you like. You can very quickly google that address.
The person who built the original website over 30 years ago (which has been continually updated since then) was a smart computer programmer who is now worth almost $15 billion, so he obviously knew one or two things. Maybe what you consider to be a programming error isn't one, at least in eBay's eyes. Maybe it's an intentional feature that you just don't agree with.

Mentor8 months agoHi @mwaynebennett
eBay is not here and will not see your post. This is a member-to-member board.

Mentor8 months agoWhen you log on through a VPN eBay can no longer verify you by your IP address. So they need to use other methods to verify it is actually you trying to access the account. VPN's can cause a lot of problems with selling sites that track your IP address.
