Give discount because shipping was so expensive
I sold a painting for $100, then gave the buyer 50% off because the packing and shipping was so much, I don’t want eBay to hit me with fees based on the $100 I sold it for $50.00 but how do I notify eBay?

·1 year agoeBay now gives a fee credit for at least some partial refunds. You "notify" eBay by doing the refund through eBay. See https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/fee-credits?id=4128&st=3&pos=1&query=Fee%20credits&intent=fee%20credits&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1304#section1 and scroll down to the section on "Fee credits for partial refunds."
ETA: The first response covers when you reduce the total (e.g. reduce the s/h) on an invoice through eBay before the buyer pays, this response is for if s/he already paid. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/managing-returns-refunds/refunding-buyers?id=5182&st=3&pos=4&query=Refunding%20buyers&intent=refund%20a%20buyer&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1608#section2

eBay will base the fees on the total actually received from the buyer, not the listing price. The total received includes the shipping and the tax.
