Gift Cards
Dear eBay community:
Has anyone had any problem buy eBay gift cards? Recently, I tried to buy eBay gift cards and the store refused to sell them to me because I wanted to send them to a friend via message service. I understand that they I trying to keep people from being scammed. However, even if it is a scam, it is a gift card; meaning it is a gift. Is it legal for stores to refuse to sell gift cards because they think the person is being scammed? Please leave your thoughts.

Mentor2 years agoStores are not required to sell you a gift card. Some stores actually take steps to try to ensure that their customers are not being scammed.
Did your friend ask you for a gift card via text or email? Have you spoken to your friend recently?
Scammers that hijack an email account or steal a phone often send requests for gift cards to the account owner's contacts, because once the scammer gets the card numbers, the scammer can spend the money on the card and there is no recourse after that.
