When did you buy the card? If you tried to check its balance within a few hours of buying it, the purchase may not have yet been recorded. eBay says the balance is usually available within 4 hours of the purchase, but that depends on where and when you bought it. Some stores do not transfer their sales as sales are made, they send the info in batches a few times a day. Sometimes when buying with a debit card on weekends or holidays the sale shows up as pending in the attached account and isn't credited until the next business day by your bank.
