Getting Robbed on First Class Letter Shipping.
Anyone else getting ripped off by the First Class Letter Mail selection. The Buyer pays .78 cents for shipping then the seller get Hosed by paying over $5 to ship. I sold a $3 key that weighs less than an ounce and ended up having to eat the key and pay the $5 shipping. This is Crazy.

Just to add - you cannot print labels for first class postage because there is no tracking. If you want to send in a plain envelope, you write the address by hand and use stamps. If the buyer says not received, you must refund in full because you cannot prove delivery.
There are also restrictions on what you can send in a letter - go to usps.com to read the limitations like uniform thickness and flexibility. eBay assumes you know the rules, so they will not stop you from selecting first class when you really can’t use it.

OP8 months agoThats Good Info and thank you for taking the time to write. I wouldn't ship anything expensive, so a few bad apples wont hurt to bad i guess. Just frustrating that I got hosed. Ebay and USPS need to figure out a better way to ship low priced and under 2 oz items.

Mentor8 months agoIt sounds like you underestimated the cost of shipping the key and the envelope/packaging exceeded the parameters for a first class mail envelope by size/thickness & weight. You will have to absorb the extra shipping cost.

OP8 months agoNah. The key/package was under an Ounce and the package was 6x4 and 1/4 inch thick. Im finding out that First Class Mail means you ship it with your own stamps and do not print a label. No tracking but you have to know not to ship anything expensive because no tracking #. Still…ebay and USPS need to find a way to print a label for smaller and less expensive items. Uugh
